The Cricket (A Short Story)

When stress hits, Michael's mind doesn't relax, it fills with uncontrollable, imagined symphonies playing loudly in his head, born from the vinyl records his mom used to play to drown out household commotion when he was a kid.

As an adult, he finds himself in a support group where he meets a pianist who doesn't flinch when he describes the music only he can hear; she listens, and for the first time, he feels understood.

A metaphysical romance about sudden loss and a character who's no longer sure whether he’s unraveling, or slipping back into a story he chose before he was ever born.
